Figure: Example Customer Screen

Customer Type

Each customer can have up to five customer category codes associated with them. The first is always the Customer Type. In this screen the second one is being used for a Loyalty category. The names of these categories are recorded on the Loyalty tab of System Settings. If the name of a category is empty, the system will assume the category is not used and so it will not be displayed on the screen. In the above screenshot, categories 3-5 are not being used.

POS Comments

POS Usage

Controls how POS checks for customer details. Customers marked as 'Check At POS' are downloaded to POS when POS loads data. POS looks for customer details on the server. If the details cannot be found (if server is down), POS checks the local customer dataset. This 'Check At POS' option should only be used on a small set of customers. It is not intended that all customers would be downloaded to POS. Even if they were, you would not see the latest points and you would not be able to use customer accounts. The main purpose of this option is to allow customers associated with a discount to be downloaded and accessible if the server does happen to be unavailable. For example, you might have a general pensioner customer that has a customer type of PENS. The pensioner discount code is associated with the PENS customer type. The pensioner customer could be set up as a 'Check At POS' customer. It could still be used at the POS if the server is not available and the discount can still be given.

Last Visit

The ABN is the number issued by the tax office for the customer. If the customer does not provide their ABN and you sell them more than $1000 worth of goods, you will not be able to issue a tax invoice.

The BRN is only filled in if the customer is to be considered its own tax entity within its own company.

Recipient Created Tax Invoice

The Recipient Created Tax Invoice should only be checked if you are expecting the customer to actually produce the Tax Invoice rather than yourself. This should generally be checked off.
