Import Items from XML File

DataEntryItems.exe ImportXML

The function checks the import folder for a new XML product file. If none is found an error message is shown to that effect and the application closes after the message is acknowledged.

If any product files are found, the list of the available files – in order of the file date creation, oldest file first in the list, is shown. Your can then select a file to be loaded. Three tabs show items that are being added; those being updated and those being deleted (marked as superseded and no longer available for ordering).

The items will be shown in a grid on the appropriate tab. Once the items are displayed you can override certain values to be imported. When desired values are shown press the Accept button to import the changes as shown.

After a product file has been dealt with it is moved to an archive folder. If all product files have been handled the application closes, otherwise it returns to the list of files available for import.

Details of the import – the person who ran it, the date / time and the product file imported, the number of items imported and so on – is logged to the audit table.
