Figure: Example Discounts Screen

A reward can be given in a number of ways. You might give an discount, for example $10 or $20. You might want to reduce the price of the items to a specific amount, for example buy any 3 for $15. You might want to give a reward on a specific item. Use the details on this window to specify the reward for the discount.

Note: Not all rewards options are always available. If you are setting up an Item Discount, the Tender Discount and Other rewards are not available.

Discount

This type of reward allows you to give either a % or $ discount to all items which qualified for the discount. If the qualifying group was for all FOOD items then all FOOD items would receive this discount.

You can specify a discount rate and a discount type.

Effective Price

This type of reward allows you to reduce the value of the items so they total a specific price. The system will calculate the amount of discount which must be give to get this sell price. For example, if you have an offer of 'buy any 3 for $9.95' and the total of the individual items added up to $12.00 you would get a discount of $2.05. This gives you an effective sell price of $9.95. The discount will be allocated to the items which qualified for the discount/offer.

Price Level

Gives a discount so that the value of the items is based on the selected price level. For example, an item has a Sell 1 of $11.95 and a Sell 2 of $9.95. The system will give a $2 discount so that the effective price of the item is not $9.95. The discount will be allocated to the items which qualified for the discount/offer.

Tender Discount

Apply a discounts which is a percentage of the tendered amount. For example, you might want to give a 5% discount for cash. The discount will be allocated to the items which qualified for the discount/offer.

Voucher

Gives a voucher as a discount. The value of the current transaction is not changed. The POS will print out the details of the specified voucher at the end of the receipt. The user can use this next time to get a discount on their next purchase. See Vouchers for more details on how to use vouchers.
