Examples Of Discount And Offers

There are many different combinations of discounts and offers that can be set up. Below are a few examples. The table shows the type of discount and the details that you need to set on the Basic tab, Qualifications tab and Reward tab of Discounts.

Add one Qualifying Group. Set Type to 'Quantity' and Qty to 1. The item discount is applied regardless of the actual quantity.

Set the Discount Rate to 10 and the Discount Type to %.

$5.00 item discount to pensioner members.

Set Discount Type to 'Item Discount'.

Set Customer Type to pensioner code.

Add one Qualifying Group. Set Type to 'Quantity' and Qty to 1. The item discount is applied regardless of the actual quantity.

Leave the Qualifying Items grid empty.

Click on the Discount option.

Set the Discount Rate to 5 and the Discount Type to $.

30% sale discount to be automatically given to food on Tuesday.

Set Discount Type to 'Sale/Value Discount Auto'.

Check on the Tuesday option and check off all other days.

Add one Qualifying Group. Set Type to 'Quantity' and Qty to 1. The item discount is applied regardless of the actual quantity.

In the Qualifying Items grid add one row and set the Dept to 'FOOD'.

Click on the Discount option.

Set the Discount Rate to 30 and the Discount Type to %.

Buy two pizzas and a drink for $19.95.

Set Discount Type to 'Offer'.

Add two Qualifying Groups. On the first group, set the Type to 'Quantity' and the Qty to 2. On the second group, set the Type to 'Quantity' and the Qty to 1.

Highlight the first Qualifying Group and in the Qualifying Items grid add a line and set the Dept to 'PIZZA'.

Highlight the second Qualifying Group and in the Qualifying Items grid add a line and set the Dept to 'BVRG'

Click on the Effective Price option.

Set the Sell Price to $19.95.

Buy any three cans of Coke, Fanta or Sprite for $2.00

Set Discount Type to 'Offer'.

Add one Qualifying Group. Set the Type to 'Quantity' and the Qty to 3.

In the Qualifying Items grid, add a line and set the IPN to the Coke IPN. Add another line and set the IPN to the Fanta IPN. Add another line and set the IPN to the Sprite IPN.

Click on the Effective Price option.

Set the Sell Price to $2.00.

Buy a pizza and two drinks, get a garlic bread free.

Set Discount Type to 'Offer'.

Add two Qualifying Groups. On the first group, set the Type to 'Quantity' and the Qty to 2. On the second group, set the Type to 'Quantity' and the Qty to 1.

Highlight the first Qualifying Group and in the Qualifying Items grid add a line and set the Dept to 'PIZZA'.

Highlight the second Qualifying Group and in the Qualifying Items grid add a line and set the Dept to 'BVRG'.

Click on the Other option.

Enter 1 as the number of items to be given as a reward.

In the Rewards 1 grid, add a line and set the IPN to the garlic bread IPN.

Set the Reward Type to 'Sell Price' and the Sell Price to 0.

Buy $1000 worth of goods and get a 51cm TV for half price.

Set Discount Type to 'Offer'.

Add one Qualifying Group. Set the Type to 'Value' and the Value to 1000.

You don't need to enter any items for the first Qualifying Group.

Click on the Other option.

Enter 1 as the number of items to be given as a reward.

In the Rewards 1 grid, add a line and set the IPN to the TV IPN.

Set the Reward Type to ‘Discount’, the Discount Rate to 50 and the Disc Type to %.

Give a 5% discount when paying with Amex.

Set Discount Type to 'Tender'.

Set the Tender code to the Amex tender code.

Add one Qualifying Group. Set Type to 'Quantity' and Qty to 1. The discount is applied regardless of the actual quantity.

Leave the Qualifying Items grid empty.

Click on the Discount option.

Set the Discount Rate to 5 and the Discount Type to %.

Buy a slice of ginger cake and get the highest priced coffee free.

Set the Discount Type to Sale / Value Discount Auto.

Add one qualifying group and set the type to Quantity and Qty = 1.  

Add a qualifying item line for the IPN of the ginger cake.

Click on the Other option.

Enter 1 as the number of rewards given and add a line with the dept / category settings for coffee. Set the Discount Rate to 100 and the Discount Type to %.

Select Highest Sell as the option for selecting the re-ward item.

Buy 2 teas and get the cheapest slice of cake free.

Set the Discount Type to Sale / Value Discount Auto.

Add one qualifying group and set the type to Quantity and Qty = 2.   

Add a qualifying item line for the dept / category of tea.

Set the maximum allowed to 3 per transaction.

Click on the Other option.

Enter 1 as the number of rewards given and add a line with the dept / category settings for cake. Set the Discount Rate to 100 and the Discount Type to %.

Select Lowest Sell as the option for selecting the reward item.

Spend £20, buy at least 3 items and get £5 off the total.

Set the Discount Type to Sale / Value Discount.

Add two qualifying groups – the first with the type set to Quantity and Qty = 3, the second with type set to Value and Value = 20.  

Set the maximum allowed to 1 per transaction.

Click on Discount option.

Enter 5 as the amount and $ as the type of the discount.

Buy 3 extra large coffees and get the fourth free.

Set the Discount Type to Sale / Value Discount Auto.

Add a single qualifying group with quantity 3. Add a single item line to the group for the large coffee IPN.

Click the Copy Reward button to copy this entry into the reward section.

Click on Other option, set quantity of rewards to 1 and change the entry for the large coffee item to a 100% discount.

Buy 2 drinks and a sandwich and get the £1 off a second sandwich.

Set the Discount Type to Sale / Value Discount Auto.

Add two qualifying groups – both with the type set to Quantity. First one should have Qty = 2, Qty = 1.

Add the drinks dept to the first qualification group and the sandwiches to the second.

Click the Copy Reward button to copy the sandwich entry into the reward section.

Click on Other option, set quantity of rewards to 1 and change the entry for the sandwiches to a 1.00 discount of type $.

These are just some of the examples of discounts and offers that you can set up. You can extend the functionality by using the priority to process the discounts and offers. For example, if you wanted to give a 10% discount when purchasing 2 or more items and a 20% discount when purchasing 5 or more items. set up two discount offers. Set the priority of the 20% discount to 1 and the priority of the 10% discount to 2. The system gives the 20% discount if possible. If not then it checks to see if a 10% discount is possible. If the 20% discount is given, the same items cannot get the 10% discount as well because they have already been used.
