Rounding Rules

Rounding rules are used when proposing sell prices. There are two basic methods of rounding - Adjust Cents and Set Sell Price.

Adjust Cents

You can tell the system to check the cents part of a sell price. If it falls within a certain range, the system can set it to a specific value. For example, if the cents is between .85 and .94, the system should change the cents to be .89. The system will not modify the dollar part of the sell price unless you have a rule which goes over the 0 cent mark. For example, the cent range .95 to .04 should be modified to .99. In this case, a sell price of $2.03 would be modified to $1.99 NOT $2.99.

Normally when you set up this type of rule you will define multiple rules to cover each range of cents. The table below shows ten rules to modify the cents to end in a 9.

You can set the sell price range for which these rules will apply. For lower sell prices you might want to round to the nearest 10 cents. For large sell prices you might want to round to the nearest 20 cents.

Set Sell Price

You can tell the system that any sell price within a specific range should be set to a definite sell price. This is useful for larger values. For example, all prices within $580 and $630 should be set to $599.
