A tax group holds 1 or more tax codes so that the system now supports multiple tax codes being applied to an item. It also supports a compounded tax – that is includes the tax amount from previous calculations. However, multiple tax codes in a group are not supported in non-US tax systems.
In a system with a US-style tax system defined, the System Settings Defaults tab 'Use Multiple Tax Codes' option is available for selection.
When adding a new tax code, a new tax group to match the tax code is automatically added. In Tax Groups, new tax codes can be added to the group. When multiple tax codes are added for a tax group, they are applied in the order indicated by the sequence number. The ‘Is Compounded’ flag affects whether the previous tax total is included in the tax calculation.
In a system without a US-style tax system defined, the System Settings Defaults tab 'Use Multiple Tax Codes' option is disabled. When adding a new tax code, you can choose whether to add a new tax group to match the tax code. In Tax Groups, existing tax codes can be amended but no new codes can be added as multiple tax codes is not allowed. The sequence number and 'Is Compounded' are not of use.
