The Z Read is a report which is used to basically show how much money has been taken since the last time it was run for the till, or for a given user. Once a Z Read has been run, it is then possible to enter a declaration against the Z-Read. This then allows you to see how much takings you have counted as opposed to how much takings the system has calculated. Variances can then be viewed in the relevant Till Declaration reports.
A Z Read can be configured to be ‘blind’ meaning no report is printed only generated, or ‘non blind’ meaning a report is both printed on the receipt printer and generated in the system.
Z Reads can also be configured to be Till based (reports figures for the Till), User based (reports figures for a given user) or Location based (reports figures for an entire Location). Usually, most customers use Till based Z Reads.
